Deployed Oregon Guard troops were in for a surprise last week: actors Channing Tatum and Nick Zano were both part of a goodwill tour to thank deployed troops in Afghanistan.
Photos exploded over the soldiers’ Facebook feeds, to the delight of friends and family at home.
“Yes, he’s taller than me,” wrote Capt. Troy Bagnall of Albany, beneath a picture of himself, Tatum and Capt. Trevor Batten of Bend.
“Well, that’s the first time in 12 yrs I’ve ever been jealous of a deployment!!” declared one Facebook commenter.
Photos of the visit show Tatum posing for photo ops with numerous soldiers, working with firearms, and playing tug-of-war with one soldier’s playful dog.
But the answer to one commenter’s question – “Did he dance for you at all?” – remains a mystery.
Approximately 900 Oregon Guard troops will return home in the coming months after a yearlong deployment.
