PORTLAND, Ore.—

Corvallis residents Jess and Tim Terkildsen celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary at last week’s Blazer game versus the Oklahoma City Thunder. But that’s not all they were there to celebrate.

Jess is 22 weeks pregnant, so the couple decided to use their special day to reveal a special surprise—the sex of their baby.

“I found out I was going to be a mom the day after we went to the opening game of the season. So it’s really only fitting that we find out what the baby is going to be here today,” said Jess in a pre-game interview.

During the second quarter, the jumbotron screen began flashing personalized messages sent by fans to the Moda Center before the game.

Finally, the screen displayed the message “Happy Anniversary Tim & Jess! Congratulations, it’s a girl!” for the couple, plus all 20,000 other Blazer fans, to see.

“Joy, surprise, happiness!” were the initial emotions the couple expressed after the gender reveal.

According to the Terkildsens, they couldn’t agree on their predictions.

Jess admitted, “I swore it was a boy.”

Though they disagreed on the baby’s gender, both share excitement at the prospect of becoming first time parents.

“I was right, I got a princess,” Tim gushed.
