SPRING HILL, Tenn.—

A 25-year-old waitress is looking for help to locate the couple who left her a $36 tip on a tab that was less than $30.

Claire Hudson was having a fairly slow Sunday while working at Mac’s Grub Shak when she got a special tip from an unidentified couple she had served.

“I didn’t even realize the tip until after they were gone,” said Hudson. “I would’ve liked to have caught them and said ‘Hey, this is awesome!’ They did it anonymously and it was really sweet.”

Hudson did find a note that the couple left explaining the reason for the amount of the tip.

“Today is my brother’s b-day,” the note said. “He would have been 36 today. Every year I go eat his favorite meal (hot dogs) and tip the waitress his age. Happy B-day Wes.”

Hudson was so touched by the note that it caused her to lose composure.

“I was in tears when I read it, she said. “I had to go in the back of the restaurant and compose myself before I went out to my other tables.”

Note

Hudson shared a picture of the note on Reddit where it quickly went viral, according to ABC News. She and the restaurant owners are now hoping to find the couple who gave the tip.

“We want to see what his brother Wes liked on his hot dogs because we’d like to name a hot dog after him,” she said.
